Zeniko ZT08 Mini On-Camera TTL Flash

Smaller Than an Earbud Case — Weighs Only 47g

The ZT08 mounted on a compact camera — sleek, portable, and effortlessly stylish.

A Pocket-Sized Flash That Thinks for Itself

For years, miniature on-camera flashes have been a compromise. You could have compact size, or you could have automatic exposure — but rarely both. The ZENIKO ZT08 changes that equation entirely.

Building on the foundation of its predecessor, the ZF08, the ZT08 introduces TTL (Through-The-Lens) auto flash — a game-changing upgrade that transforms this tiny flash from a manual-only tool into an intelligent lighting companion. Whether you’re a seasoned street photographer or someone picking up a camera for the first time, the ZT08 makes flash photography as simple as point-and-shoot.

What’s New? The ZF08 → ZT08 Evolution

Feature ZF08 (Previous) ZT08 (New)
Flash Mode Manual only TTL Auto + Manual
Status Display LED indicator OLED screen
Shoe Mount Plastic Metal upgrade
Wake/Sleep Manual toggle Auto wake/sleep

The most significant upgrade is the addition of TTL auto mode. The flash reads your camera’s metering data through the lens and automatically adjusts output power to match the scene — no more guesswork, no more test shots, no more blown-out “ghost face” portraits. The intelligent auto mode adapts effortlessly to any scenario: street snapshots, portrait sessions, event coverage, or low-light indoor environments.

The OLED screen replaces the vague LED dots of the previous generation, giving you clear, real-time visibility of power settings and flash status. The metal shoe mount addresses the structural weakness of the plastic found on the ZF08, ensuring a secure, wobble-free connection.

Ultra-Mini Design — Smaller Than an Earbud Case

The ZT08 (41×39×34mm) compared to everyday objects — truly pocketable.

At just 41×39×34mm and weighing a mere 47g, the ZT08 is smaller than most Bluetooth earbud cases. It’s so light that you’ll forget it’s even on your camera — yet it delivers enough punch to transform your images.

The retro-inspired design comes in two classic finishes — Black and Silver — that blend seamlessly with mirrorless and compact cameras like the Fujifilm X100 series, Ricoh GR series, and Sony α6000 series. It slips right into your pocket, ready for on-the-go shooting.

ZENIKO Optical Technology — Bright, Even, and Fast

The ZENIKO proprietary optical system combines a xenon tube with a Fresnel lens.

Developed by the ZENIKO Lighting Lab, the ZT-08 features a custom optical system that combines a xenon flash tube with a Fresnel lens. This proprietary design delivers bright, natural, and evenly distributed illumination — far beyond what its miniature size would suggest.

The flash achieves a guide number of approximately GN16 (at ISO 100),  putting it on par with or ahead of other pocket flashes in its class. Recycle time is lightning-fast at 0.1–1.5 seconds at full power, meaning you’ll never miss a decisive moment. And with a built-in 7.4V, 300mAh lithium battery, the ZT08 delivers up to 740 full-power flashes on a single charge.

Charging is convenient via the USB-C port, taking approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes for a full charge. The flash also features auto wake/sleep — it activates when your camera turns on and goes to sleep when not in use, preserving battery life without constant manual switching.

Universal Compatibility — One Flash for Every System

Available in multiple versions to match your camera system.

The ZT08 is available in seven different hot-shoe versions, covering virtually every major camera brand on the market:

Version Compatible Cameras
ZT08 C Canon (E-TTL II auto flash)
ZT08 CM Canon Multi-Function Shoe (R50 / R50V / V1)
ZT08 N Nikon (i-TTL II auto flash)
ZT08 S Sony (TTL auto flash)
ZT08 F Fujifilm (TTL auto flash)
ZT08 R Ricoh GR III series
ZT08 O Olympus / Panasonic

This broad compatibility means you can use the same flash across different camera systems — or find the perfect match for your specific setup. For Canon R50 and R50V users, the ZT08 CM version is a direct plug-in solution that requires no adapter or trigger, solving a long-standing compatibility gap.

Who Is the ZT08 For?

Street Photographers — The ZT08 weighs next to nothing and pairs perfectly with compact cameras like the Ricoh GR III or Fujifilm X100VI. It doesn’t unbalance your setup or draw unwanted attention.

Travel Shooters — When every gram counts, the ZT08 delivers professional-quality flash in a package that fits in any pocket.

Beginners — TTL auto mode removes the intimidation factor. Just mount it, turn it on, and let the flash handle the exposure.

Event and Portrait Photographers — Fast recycle times and consistent TTL performance mean you can work quickly and confidently in changing light.

Canon R50/R50V Users — The ZT08 CM version is currently one of the few direct-mount TTL flash solutions available for Canon’s multi-function hot shoe.

Final Verdict

The ZENIKO ZT08 isn’t trying to be the most powerful flash on the market. It doesn’t have Bluetooth, app control, or fancy RGB presets. What it does have is a laser focus on what matters: reliable TTL auto exposure, genuine portability, and broad compatibility — all at a price that makes it accessible to every photographer.

It’s not a product. It’s a tool. A tool that solves real problems: the lack of TTL in miniature flashes, the bulk of traditional speedlights, and the compatibility gaps that leave certain camera users with no good options.

If you shoot with a compact or mirrorless camera and want a flash that goes wherever you go — and thinks for itself when it gets there — the ZENIKO ZT08 is the answer.
